ABOUT THE PROJECT<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The J\/24 World Championship, an annual race for the J\/24 class sail boat, is making its way to the Pacific Northwest for the first time in 2024. Hosted by the Corinthian Yacht Club at Seattle’s Shilshole Marina and presented by Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, the event pairs world-class racing with one of the most unique and popular sailing venues in North America: the Salish Sea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Set upon the backdrop the Salish Sea\u2019s stunning landscape, the event’s emblematic logo features an abstract representation of the J\/24 sailboat’s fractional rigging \u2014 and suggests the fin of an Orca whale: a revered local resident considered by many Coast Salish peoples to symbolize community and family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building on the spirit of community, the logo is infused with references to Puget Sound’s natural beauty and its people. The color palette and bold, graphic line work are a respectful nod to the striking artistic work of the Coast Salish, upon whose land the event takes place. The typeface, Congenial, was designed by Washington-born typeface designer Laura Worthington. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experienced with working in agency and studio settings, Amy Redmond<\/a> is an art director and visual designer who thrives on variety and a passion for typography. To keep her creativity refreshed, Amy balances digital design with time in her letterpress studio (Amada Press<\/a>) in Seattle. She has taught typography, design, and letterpress printing at various schools in the Puget Sound region, and is an advisor and founding member of Partners in Print<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
