A panel of Alaska artists, former governors and other prominent Alaska leaders selected a design by Hannah Hamberg, a 16-year-old student at Sitka High School.<\/p>\n<p>The winning design was revealed Jan. 3, 2009, marking the 50th anniversary signing of Alaska&#8217;s Declaration of Statehood.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1373\" src=\"https:\/\/amyredmond.com\/portfolio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/alaska-air-spirit_of_statehood.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"864\" height=\"486\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amyredmond.com\/portfolio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/alaska-air-spirit_of_statehood.jpg 864w, https:\/\/amyredmond.com\/portfolio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/alaska-air-spirit_of_statehood-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/amyredmond.com\/portfolio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/alaska-air-spirit_of_statehood-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 864px) 100vw, 864px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.alaskaair.com\/alaska-airlines\/operations\/spirit-of-alaska-statehood\/\">The plane was retired in 2016<\/a>, but the logomark that I illustrated lives on in other Alaska Airlines &#8220;Paint the Plane&#8221; campaigns.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><em>Experienced with working in agency and studio settings,\u00a0<a title=\"Amy Redmond (Art Direction\/Design\/Letterpress)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amyredmond.com\/\">Amy Redmond<\/a>\u00a0is an art director and visual designer who thrives on variety, creating print and interactive work for corporate and non-profit clients. To keep her creativity refreshed, Amy balances digital design with time in her letterpress studio (<a title=\"Amada Press\" href=\"http:\/\/amadapress.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amada Press)<\/a>\u00a0in Seattle.
